Destiny: The Tale of Sonali and Amir is a magical fairytale written by Sonya Wadhera and Priya Wadhera. It is a perfect story for children aged 5 – 12 years old. The story is set in India and follows Princess Sonali and Prince Amir as they unravel mysteries from their past, work together to defeat an evil demon and ultimately fulfill their destiny. Sonya and Priya believe that the children of today are the leaders of tomorrow so it’s important they are influenced by positive messages. For this reason, Destiny: The Tale of Sonali and Amir was written to promote important values including diversity, equality and respect and to empower readers to believe they are destined for greatness. Princess Sonali and Prince Amir are both equally as strong and brave and use their unique skills, talents and abilities to overcome challenges and work together to fulfill their dreams. They serve as positive role models and encourage children to be proud of who they are and where they come from!

The authors of Destiny: The Tale of Sonali and Amir, Sonya Wadhera and Priya Wadhera are sisters who were born and raised in Canada and are of South Asian descent. Growing up, Sonya and Priya always loved the magical world of fairy tales. The stories taught them to believe in themselves, that everything is possible, and that life really can have happy endings.
After studying business in university, they combined their passion for writing and entrepreneurship to create their own fairy tale. They wanted their book to showcase their rich Indian traditions as a way to encourage others to embrace their own cultural diversity. Sonya and Priya also believe strongly in the power of giving back to the community and helping others. For their involvement in the community, Sonya was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and Priya was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Community Volunteer Award. With their book, Sonya and Priya aim to make an impact globally and empower others to follow their dreams!
