The Ontario Early Years Centre Ottawa South staff and its community partners are inviting you and your little ones to an outdoor Story Walk! Pages of a book will be displayed throughout the park for all to enjoy along with a variety of activities. Please dress for the weather and bring your sunscreen & water bottle. Prenatal Classes by Ottawa Public Health

Prenatal classes held at the Alta Vista branch of the Public Library. A public health nurse will lead this mini-series of three small group sessions. Only one parent must register but both are welcome. Session 1. Birth Basics-Confidence & Comfort. Session 2: Breastfeeding Basics-Tips & Techniques. Session 3: Baby Basics-Preparing for Parenthood. Three weekly 2-hour sessions starting at 10:15 am.

Prenatal classes by the OCEA

We suggest you take your prenatal classes between 20 weeks and 36 weeks. Be sure to register early in your pregnancy in order to ensure a place is reserved for you. Class size is limited to a maximum of 8 couples. Our classes include information presented in a variety of methods including videos, hands on practice, small group discussion and relaxation exercises. Classes run every weekend at several locations, weeknight classes are also available.

It is time for dads to dance with their little ones at our Father’s Day Flash Mob in Little Italy. The idea is to have fun and celebrate dads, so join Dancing Mama Daniela and let them know how important they are to us! This is the first of many workshops and classes to be offered by Salsa Babies Ottawa this summer with many free sessions taking place at the Ottawa City Hall.

Come join us for an adventurous walk in the park and discover a new way to read books! Stories will be geared to preschoolers (2½-5 years), but all are welcome. Engage in fun physical activity and spend quality time with your child. Let nature and books be your guide! Participate in a take home craft or activity and end up at the playground!

The 2 hour class is  taught by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, IBCLC. We will cover the basics of life with a new baby, focussing on normal newborn behaviour in the first hours, days and weeks postpartum. Topics include: What will those first feeds be like. How to know if your baby is getting enough milk. Positions including laid back nurturing. Hand expressing, pumping and milk storage. Myths and misconceptions. How our partners, support people and extended family can help support a positive breastfeeding experience. When to get help. Our aim is to provide you with some basic and up to date information so that you can reach your breastfeeding goals. Classes take place in our comfortable Milkspace at 445 Churchill Ave N.

Prenatal Movement Class by Little Lotus

Have a pain free pregnancy and prepare your body for birth and beyond with Registered Physiotherapist Lisa Flanders. In this 4 week series Lisa will teach you in detail about pelvic floor connection through breathing, piston breathing and pelvic floor activation, hip and pelvis opening stretches and movements, core control both static and dynamic through movement which will allow for Diastatis Recti Abdominal (DRA) recovery post birth and post birth postural alignmentproper alignment and movement to take into consideration the changes that occur during pregnancy.
