  • Weekends, March 5 to April 16, 9 am to 4 pm
  • Daily, March 13 to 17 (Ontario March break), 9 am to 4 pm

At the Pioneer Pavilion, visitors can take a wagon ride into the sugar bush, where they can help collect the sap and see maple syrup being made.

About the Log Farm

Built in the mid-1850s, the house and its outbuildings were constructed of the logs from trees felled when the land was cleared. In the house, the kitchen was the main living space where, even in early days, a cast iron stove provided heat and a fire for cooking. A second storey was added in 1861 to house an expanding family.

Abraham and Matilda Bradley raised a large family in this house in the 1860s and ’70s, as they cleared the land for timber and eventually moved from mixed farming to livestock farming. The family sold the homestead in the early 20th century, and the NCC acquired it in 1966, as part of the new Greenbelt.

Maple Weekend

The Ontario Maple Syrup Producers’ Association will be hosting the third Annual Maple Weekend on April 1 – 2, 2017 from 10 AM to 4 PM. Participants in Maple Weekend can be found across the province in a number of maple syrup producing areas. Maple weekend gives you a first-hand opportunity to see how maple products are produced, from tree to table, along with the chance to taste and purchase quality maple products.

Join the fun at a local sugar house. Sugar makers are inviting you to share in the centuries-old craft of maple sugaring. Come and talk to the producers in your local area. They will be happy to share with you how their operation works.

Many will be offering free samples of fresh syrup, as well as maple candies and confections. Come enjoy pancake breakfasts, sugarbush trails, sugar making demonstrations, taffy on snow, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and more. Each producer has a unique list of activities and experiences in store for you. Check out each producer’s listing to see what specific activities they are offering on Maple Weekend. Experience the traditional maple sugaring craft and taste why pure Ontario maple syrup has long been a favourite springtime treat. Share in the fun of the sweetest time of the year. Ontario maple syrup producers have a reputation for producing some of the best syrup in the world. During Maple Weekend our maple producers will demonstrate how maple syrup is made – whether it’s simply boiling the sap in a cauldron over an open fire, or processing it through high-tech RO systems and modern fuel efficient evaporators – the results always taste great!

Notre chanteur, conteur et « humoriste pour la famille » récidive avec ses questions fondamentales et ses réponses hautement non scientifiques! Pourquoi les ados portent-ils des tuques en été? Pourquoi les filles se maquillent-elles? Pourquoi rit-on?… Les pourquoi – 2, ce sont des chansons aux textes drôles et gentiment délirants, portées par des styles musicaux variés dans une mise en scène farfelue jouée et chantée par notre grand rouquin sympathique. AERO 150 (Canadian Forces Aerial Ballet Show)  Aero 150 is a once-in-a-lifetime aviation spectacle. The Canadian Forces Snowbirds, those beloved and winged ambassadors of Canada, kick off their 2017 show season right here in Gatineau by hosting La Patrouille de France, the world-famous jet aerobatic team of France’s Armée de l’Air.

The opportunity to see two of the planet’s top jet aerobatic teams performing on the same day is one not to be missed. The Patrouille de France has only come to North America twice before—for Expo 86 in Vancouver and to Québec City in 2009. The team is including this one Canadian performance only on a tour of the United States commemorating 100 years since the USA joined the Allies in the First World War. They are here to commemorate Canada’s 150th birthday and 100 years since the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

Performing in their spectacularly painted Dassault-Breguet/Dornier Alphajets, the “Patrouille” is the oldest aerobatic team in the world, first taking to the air in Stampe biplanes in 1931. Today, they are the epitome of French style and elegance.

Combined with the precision aerial ballet of our proud Snowbirds, this flying event gets our 150th birthday celebrations off to a flying start. To round out the show, Vintage Wings of Canada will be flying fighters and training aircraft from its historic collection and the Royal Canadian Air Force will be displaying several of its state-of-the-art aircraft.

April 30, 2017  L’Aeroport Exécutif Gatineau-Ottawa  Gates open 9am  Free Admission!  Parking: $10
