Story time at Rideau Hall

This outdoor reading activity is hosted in collaboration with Frontier College, a Canadian charitable literacy organization. Every Friday and Saturday, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Frontier College volunteers invite the general public, families and youth groups to settle in under the Reading Tent to read books and to participate in fun literacy activities.

Not only are we bringing you the Best in BBQ, but we are featuring a new Kids Fun Zone, Rock Climbing Wall, a new Chile Wine Truck, fresh foodies and desserts, and we’ve also added a new sticky competition for the “King or Queen of the Q” where you at home can win Best Sauce Judged by the Pro Ribbers themselves.

Les Petites Pestes» est un spectacle de théâtre musical mettant en vedette des personnages expressifs, humoristiques et attachants. Ils aiment par-dessus tout s’amuser en explorant le chant, le théâtre et la danse devant un public jeunesse, mais aussi devant les grandes personnes qui ont encore le coeur jeune. Si vous avez peur des bêtes de nuit, les Petites Pestes sauront bien conquérir vos coeurs fragiles!

Glengarry Highland Games

Since the first Games were held in 1948, the people of Glengarry have extended close to a million welcomes to visitors who come to see what is estimated to be one of the largest Highland Games in the world. Hundreds of thousands of people have found themselves drawn once a year to Maxville, to witness an outstanding display of music, dance, sports, pageantry, and tradition.

 

Big Global Latch On – Ottawa

Every August we host the BIG Global Latch On in Ottawa Ontario. Celebrating Breastfeeding and human milk feeding. Join us for the inclusive family event!

Tools of the Trade Explore how people’s lives and tools have changed over time. Make crafts, play games, and study artefacts as you try your hand at a different trade each week! Activities are appropriate for children ages 6 to 9.

Register for one session or all four. $6.30 per child

Preschool Play Date Bring your preschoolers to the museum each Friday morning in August to play, dress-up, and use their imaginations! Each week we will explore a different topic and parents are welcome to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds following the program. Portions of this program will be outdoors- parents and children are advised to come dressed for the weather. Children ages 3 to 5. Registration required. Cost: $6.30

Ontario Pyromusical Show In 2017, The Casino du Lac-Leamy Sound of Light is also celebrating Canada’s 150 anniversary as a nation. Five designers from all across Canada will create unique, unseen and amazing displays inspired by our country and our history! The sky above the Ottawa river will be lighted up like never before. From August 5 to 19, 2017 at the Canadian Museum of History.

Ottawa Welcomes the World: Macedonia

Highlights of the program will be the renowned Macedonian-Canadian cultural folklore ensemble dance groups. Music lovers will enjoy live performance of world-renowned Macedonian ethno musicians. The Canadian-Macedonian community will offer tables of home-prepared traditional cuisine and wines. Popular painters of Macedonian descent will present their artwork in exhibitions which will be open throughout the day. A feature display of posters, booklets, brochures and video presentations of Macedonia as a tourist destination will run throughout the day, showcasing the natural beauty of Macedonia. There will be several companies from Macedonia which will present the benefits and privileges for foreign investors.

Colonel By Day

Festivities begin at 11:00 am with an opening procession. Live entertainment will be presented throughout the day, with performances by local musicians, dancers and other costumed characters along with other activities. Admission to the Bytown Museum will be free from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Home Depot Kid’s Workshop – Build a Home Depot Truck

Our hands-on workshop and you and your child can build a Home Depot truck. Once the project is complete, your child can personalize their Home Depot Truck with paint and stickers. All kids get to keep their project and receive a FREE certificate of achievement and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Children must be between the ages of 5-12 and must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit.
